Let's start with the name.
This intrigued me.
I thought 'Stump of the World' was just about the dumbest name someone could invent.
So I began to do some research.
First I discovered there is also a peach, apple and even a brand of shoes...
all named Stump of the World.
How bizarre.
Then I discovered that this tomato was named by the late Ben Quisenberry.
Ben was a devout Christian and often used Bible verses in his tomato descriptions.
So, to make a (very) long story short,
Stump of the World refers to the 'stump' of Jesse (Isaiah 11:1)
which is none other than Jesus Christ.
WOW! Not such a dumb name after all.
As for the tomato:
Stump of the World is a potato leaf variety very similar to Pink Brandywine.
The fruits are very meaty beefsteaks that can weigh up to 1 pound.
Excellent canner or slicer with a gorgeous dark pink color.
The flavor is rated as 'exceptional'.
