A "GOTTA HAVE" variety
Riesentraube is an old heirloom (1855) from Germany.
This beauty was grown extensively by the Pennsylvania Dutch.
The name, translated, means "giant bunch of grapes" and that's exactly what it looks like.
Reisentraube is easy to distinguish by the little pointy nubbin on the blossom end.
The flowers are born in clusters and each plant can have up to 350 flowers at one time.
You will harvest huge bunches of marble sized bright red fruit with extra sweet full-bodied flavor.
The abundance of foliage helps shade the fruits, so I NEVER have a problem with sun-scald.
They are just the right size for a salad and they are extra tempting on a veggie tray.
70 days isn't too long to wait and these indeterminates will produce till frost.
