83 day RED Indeterminate
Mortgage Lifter is an heirloom variety with a bit of folk-lore behind it.
Developed during the 1930's by a radiator repairman named M.C. "Radiator Charlie" Byles.
He spent years crossing the biggest, tastiest tomatoes he could find until he finally produced what he wanted.
He started selling them and word quickly got around. People would drive 200 miles to get Radiator Charlie's tomatoes. To make a long story short, business was so good, M.C. Byles was able to
pay off his bank mortgage in 6 short years. That's when M.C. "Radiator Charlie" Byles decided to name his famous tomato 'Mortgage Lifter'.
Mortgage Lifter produces 1 to 3 pound slightly flattened beefsteak type tomatoes.
The largest one recorded weighed in at 7 pounds. WOW! The size of a small pumpkin.
They are a nice true red color, with mild flavor and very few seeds.
This is one of our best sellers, so don't delay.
